Grey hair and new tricks
I began my copywriting career … a while ago.
Everything has changed since then: internet, social media. Nothing has changed since then: basic human motivation to seek pleasure and avoid pain.
My hair is grey, but the brain beneath it is not bothered by anything new. There is nothing I cannot research and learn. Research and learn specifically for the purpose of convincing your ideal customer that your product or service is the solution/pleasure to their problem/pain.
Need proof?
I would if I were you. Look at my work and decide if my expertise and experience meet your needs.
READ THIS BEFORE you press RECORD – a story on Medium
This is an edit of an article for potential and new clients detailing the seven questions to consider before beginning a video production project. Tactus Media also wanted to share this knowledge with others to establish themselves as an authority on the topic. This thorough rewrite establishes and clarifies the seven key considerations, and serves as an introduction to other articles on the site that offer more in-depth information.
Do not be THAT email marketer – a newsletter article on email etiquette
It is about the law, permission and courtesy, and it is pretty easy to get right. I walk through the seven main compliance requirements found on the Federal Trade Commission’s website and reveal a commonly missed requirement. I also explain the requirement of the newer General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union that gets most emailers in trouble. Curious? Nervous? If you want to know you will have to read the article —
A .87 business-to-business direct mail response rate – a quiz will get them every time
I took a completely new approach with this mailer and it generated a .87 response rate. Lawyers love to prove their knowledge, so I put a quiz about body language on this brochure for a textbook on trial communication skills. As 93 percent of what we understand comes from non-verbal communication, it is important for all people, and particularly trial lawyers, to get this right.
Anxiety-ending advice on pricing your product or service with confidence
This blog addresses the preconceived notions, second-guessing, and self-doubt that cloud this process and lead, almost always, to underpricing. I reiterate the rarely executed but mandatory tasks of market research and clearly articulating your unique selling position. I also explore deeper issues entrepreneurs and contractors have regarding success and greed, risk-taking and security, and inherited stories that say you cannot own your power, claim your ambition, or self-promote.
There is a bullet hole through this business-to-business direct mail brochure
This is a rewrite of the business-to-business direct mail brochure on the left. The objective was to put a more powerful image and enticing headline on the cover. The product is a textbook on firearms litigation, so I put a bullet hole through all three folds of the brochure. The headline suggests there is money to made in this overlooked area of personal injury practice. The promotion was mentioned in an article in McGraw-Hill World.
A game-changing look at self-care – it is all in your head
I desperately wanted to get past manicures and massages and address what I feel is the real issue of self-care: how you think about yourself. I researched the key tenets of self-compassion and analyzed how well or poorly I was using them in my own life. I shared a bit of this assessment in this guest blog for Women to Women Network, a women’s networking group dedicated to supporting its members as they strive to achieve their business and personal goals.
